Keegan Bradley advised by six-time PGA Tour winner on current form ahead of Ryder Cup: “Don’t pick me…”

Keegan Bradley has a number of key decisions to make with the Ryder Cup now just weeks away.

If he chooses to play, Bradley would be the first American playing captain since Arnold Palmer took on both roles back in 1963.

Several Americans are making late runs for selection, with only four PGA Tour events left before the six captain’s picks are finalised.

Chris Gotterup is one player who has forced his way into the conversation, and Bradley will no doubt have been impressed by what he’s seen from the 26-year-old recently.

Bradley is being encouraged to pick himself for the team, and that decision will not be an easy one for him to make. The 39-year-old from Vermont has had some strong moments this season, but it’s still a big call to include himself over other options.

Another issue facing the eight-time PGA Tour winner is that several high-profile American players are struggling at the moment.

On top of that, many of the big names aren’t playing well at all right now. Several experienced players aren’t just outside the top six automatic spots – they’re not even close to breaking into the top 12.

One player has been so out of form that he says he’d advise Bradley against picking him if selections were made today.

Tony Finau reveals what he would say now to Keegan Bradley about a potential Ryder Cup’s pick

Tony Finau has struggled throughout the 2025 PGA Tour season and currently finds himself 60th in the FedEx Cup standings. He’ll need strong performances over the next two weeks if he wants to reach the BMW Championship.

Putting has been a major issue for Finau this year. He’s ranked 135th in strokes gained on the greens, which has played a big part in his inconsistent results.

Speaking before the Wyndham Championship, Finau admitted that his current form doesn’t justify inclusion on the Ryder Cup team.

He said: “If the Ryder Cup was today I would tell Keegan make sure you don’t pick me. But the decision is not made today. Why not make a run at the play-offs? That’s the goal, that’s the ultimate goal.

“At the moment, it’s one foot in front of the other, as cliché goes, one shot at a time, that’s all I can do over the next few weeks, just try to play as good golf as I can and see where chips fall.”

Finau will likely need at least one win and a couple of top-5 finishes in his next four tournaments to have any chance of earning a captain’s pick from Bradley for the Ryder Cup.

Breaking down Tony Finau’s 2025 PGA Tour numbers

Looking through Finau’s numbers, it’s clear why this season has been such a challenge for him.

Stats Finau’s 2025 rank
Strokes gained off the tee 117th
Strokes gained approach 109th
Strokes gained around the greens 35th
Strokes gained putting 135th
Strokes gained total 110th

It doesn’t make for pleasant reading, does it?

Finau needs to completely turn his game around in the next week or so if he wants any hope of making the Ryder Cup team.

Right now, though, that seems like a long shot.
