Sarcasm alert: Dustin Johnson 'regrets' joining LIV Golf

LIV Golf: Dustin Johnson sarcastically says he 'regrets' joining rival league

Clearly, Dustin Johnson isn't having second thoughts about leaving the PGA Tour for the LIV Golf Invitational Series.

The long-time golf pro has made a pretty penny playing six events in Greg Norman's Saudi Arabia-funded breakaway league, and was crowned the tour's first individual champion on Monday. When asked about being such a big part of LIV Golf's inaugural season later in the week, DJ laid the sarcasm on thick.

"I was really regretting my decision to come here," Johnson deadpanned. "It's just been terrible."

Of course, Johnson is far from unhappy after already winning the LIV season's points title, which comes with an $18 million bonus.

While some find Johnson's snark to be humorous, others find it off-putting. Johnson left the PGA Tour for a league funded by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund and the connection between the league and the country's alleged human rights violations is continuously at the forefront. In fact, LIV Golf's brazen connection to Saudi Arabia and its cavalier attitude toward the major golf leagues in the world have helped to keep the league from being considered for world ranking points or from having a solid broadcasting deal. LIV Golf is so desperate to have a broadcasting partner that they will reportedly be paying Fox Sports a huge sum so its tournaments can be on TV.

Clearly, those views and setbacks aren't bothering Johnson at all as he sets up to win even more money before the season is over.

The final two events of the LIV Golf season will take place October 28 through October 31 at Trump Invitational Doral Golf Course in Florida.
