LIV Golf has officially announced that Scott O'Neil will be the new CEO, effective immediately . This move comes after much anticipation following the announcement that Greg Norman would be leaving the role.

O'Neil is well-versed in sports operations and entertainment, appearing to be a natural fit for the league as it enters a new era of golf. He is highly regarded as a leader to guide LIV into its next phase of potential unification with the PGA Tour.

What's Next?

The next thing to monitor is how swiftly the PGA Tour moves to match LIV. PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan announced at the end of the year that the PGA Tour would seek a new CEO to oversee the newly formed PGA Tour Enterprises. However, not much has emerged from the PGA Tour regarding potential candidates for the role.

The most significant development is that Greg Norman is no longer in the driver's seat for LIV. It has been suggested that both tours needed to relieve Norman and Monahan to align and advance toward a unification of professional golf. With one domino fallen, the other appears to be ready to empower someone new in this new venture for the PGA Tour.

There is interest in how quickly the PGA Tour will act to fill their vacancy and what role Monahan will play in selecting a new CEO. It is hoped that the organization does not prolong this process, unlike the framework agreement with LIV that many have been awaiting.
