It didn’t take long for Scotsman Robert MacIntyre to lick his wounds and get back in the saddle this week at the Tour Championship in Atlanta after blowing a four-shot lead on Sunday at the BMW Championship in losing to Scottie Scheffler ultimately by two shots.
Playing in the final group with the red-hot Scheffler right now, even when the world number one is trailing with eighteen holes to go is proving an extremely difficult task for opponents.
MacIntyre had a win in his sig hts last week, but shot an untimely 3-over 73 to lose to Scheffler.
The two-time PGA Tour winner was within one shot with two holes to play when Scheffler chipped-in on the 71st hole from an unlikely position in the rough to extend his lead from one shot to two with one to go.

The European star has now gotten himself right back into serious contention in his very next competitive round on Thursday, delivering an impressive 6-under 64 to get within three shots of Russell Henley’s lead and in a tie for third.
“I drove it nicely, and my putter worked again,” MacIntyre told reporters after his open ing round. “While that's working, we'll just keep the foot down.”
Indeed, it’s been pedal to the medal for the U.S. Open runner-up over the past couple months.
After two wins last summer on the PGA Tour, MacIntyre’s gone winless so far this summer and during this overall PGA Tour season, but he’s fully aware of the opportunity he had in his hands last Sunday in Baltimore, and he was asked Thursday how long it’s taken him to get over the disappointment.
“Probably until today, until I started warming up today,” MacIntyre said of reminiscing of what could have been at the BMW Championship.
”Yeah, it was disappointing. I've not really done a full debrief on what happened. But yeah, it's going to hurt no matter who you are. I'm just the honest guy that comes out and says it.”
Though he hasn’t yet fully debriefed, MacIntyre has talked out Sunday’s crititcal situations and takeaways with his close-knit team.
“I had a talk with the guys out here on my team, four of us, me, my caddie, Mike Kanski, my putting coach, my manager,” MacIntyre said. “Had a half hour, 40-minute chat in the house on Monday. I didn't do anything Monday, so we done a little chat. But I'll do a full debrief of what happened on Sunday.”
