Masters Round 2 bets, including the smart-money wager on Tiger

Day 1 of the 2024 Masters is in the books, and LIV Golf's Bryson DeChambeau currently holds a one-shot lead over Scottie Scheffler after a 7-under 65. They weren't able to finish the first round due to a two-hour rain delay in the morning, but sportsbooks still have Round 2 matchups available to bet. So, let's bet 'em.

Here are two matchup bets we like for the second round of The Masters.

Round 2 matchup: Will Zalatoris > Xander Schauffele (+125 FanDuel)

Will Zalatoris looked great in the first round from Augusta National Golf Club. The American was 4 under par through his first 16 holes, but he finished with back-to-back sloppy bogeys on 17 and 18 to finish with a 2-under 70. Zalatoris currently ranks 10th in the field in strokes gained from tee to green, and he gained strokes in all four major categories on Thursday. He should be able to keep it rolling in the second round.

Xander Schauffele, one of the pre-tournament favorites, was 2 over through 12 holes before making his first birdie of the day on the 13th hole. He birdied the 16th to finish with an even-par 72, but he lost strokes on the green and was neutral off the tee in the first round. Schauffele can struggle in the wind, and it's supposed to be a blustery day at Augusta on Friday.

Round 2 matchup: Patrick Reed > Tiger Woods (-140 FanDuel)

We don't want to do this. We really don't, but money talks louder than fandom.

Tiger Woods, who finished only 13 holes on Thursday, is losing strokes off the tee and on approach. A tidy short game saved him a handful of strokes and kept him at -1, but it's hard to imagine he'll be able to keep that magic going. The kicker, though, is that Woods is scheduled to play 23 holes on Friday at one of the hilliest venues in golf. There's no telling how his leg and back will hold up.

Patrick Reed is 2-under through 14 holes, and he's gaining strokes in all four major categories. The 2018 Masters champion consistently plays well on this golf course, and we trust that consistency over Woods having to play extra holes with little time to recover in between.
