Michigan State Women's Golf Heads to the NCAA Regional Tournament
Nick King/Lansing State Journal-USA TODAY NETWORK

On Wednesday at Lasch Golf Center, Head Coach Stacy Slobodnik-Stoll and the Spartans team announced that they earned a spot in the NCAA Women's golf regional, and will head to Oklahoma as the No. 4 seed in a 12-team matchup.

The 12 teams competing in the Norman Regional are Stanford, Northwestern, North Carolina, Michigan State, Duke, Oklahoma, Baylor, Oregon State, Tulsa, Denver, Furman, and Southern Mississippi.

Last year, Michigan State made an appearance in the 2024 East Lansing regional, and Coach Slobodnik-Stoll says that she already knew that the team would make another return. "I don't think anyone had Norman on their radar, but we're excited, every field at the regional is tough, all of the teams are coming to play, and they have all proved to be some of the best teams throughout the season," she said.

Last year, Michigan State hosted the East Lansing Regional at Forest Akers West Golf Course. The team finished third, among 12 other teams, and earned a trip to the NCAA Championship.

The Spartans have made 16 appearances in the NCAA with 14 under Coach Slobodnik-Stoll.

Michigan State is ranked No. 25 in the country in the NCAA Division I, and the team is one of the night schools from the Big Ten Conference to reach the  NCAA regionals.

The regional Starts Monday, May 5-7 at six regions, with 396 players and 12 teams. Out of the 30 teams and six individuals, the top five teams and low individual not on an advancing team from each regional will advance to compete in the national championships played on May 16-21 at Omni La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad, California.
