The 3M Open concluded on Sunday with Kurt Kitayama lifting the second trophy of his PGA Tour career. Now, attention shifts to the final event of the PGA Tour before the FedEx Playoffs. Golfers will be striving to improve their rankings at the Wyndham Championship, which tees off this Thursday.
However, just one day into the week, we already have troubling news concerning multiple competitors: several have chosen to forgo their spots in the field. Most notable among them is Wyndham Clark, who finished last week’s event tied for twelfth place—his sudden withdrawal will come as a surprise to many fans.
Others include Jhonattan Vegas, Jeremy Paul, and Mackenzie Hughes. Their departures have opened up several spots, which were quickly filled by reserves and sponsor exemptions.
Thomas Rosenmueller, Cristóbal del Solar, and Trevor Cone joined the field in place of Vegas, Paul, and Clark. Other additions included Pierceson Coody and Chesson Hadley. On Monday, Braden Thornberry was added as a replacement for Hughes.
Despite missing some notable names, the championship still boasts a strong lineup. Rickie Fowler will be a local favorite at Sedgefield CC, and Kitayama will be looking for another solid finish to boost his ranking.

Keegan Bradley, captain of Team USA in the Ryder Cup, will also tee off this Thursday. All in all, it’s shaping up to be an intriguing battle this week.
