New CEO Position Created at PGA Tour
John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

The PGA Tour is looking for a Chief Executive Officer.

A memo from PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan to the tour membership announced that a new CEO position has been created, and a search committee has been initiated to fill it.

In his memo to all the players, Monahan indicated that he had previewed a strategy roadmap in a recent Town Hall with the PGA Tour staff and that the Tour will use the plan to accelerate performance in 2025 and beyond.

As part of that plan, Monahan said he has advocated for the new CEO role since the creation of PGA Tour Enterprises and the formal investment from the Strategic Sports Group in January.

In numerous meetings with his staff earlier this year, Monahan found a recurring theme in the importance of having the right people in the right roles.

“The importance of having the right leaders in the right roles to ensure we fully capitalize on the exciting opportunities ahead,” Monahan said was what he took from the meetings. “I talked a lot about the strength of our existing leadership team, the impact that our recent external hires are already having, and the idea that we’d continue to look outside the organization to bring in fresh perspectives and complementary capabilities that will make our team even stronger.”

As part of the CEO announcement, Monahan confirmed he will join the PGA Tour Policy Board and be part of the search committee, which will be led by Arthur M. Blank, PGA Tour Enterprises Board Director, and Chair of the Management Development & Compensation Committee, Player Directors Tiger Woods, Adam Scott, Board Chairman, Joe Gorder and Board Director, Sam Kennedy.

The new CEO will report directly to the PGA Tour Policy Board and the PGA Tour Enterprises Board of Directors.

“I’ve never been more committed to the future of the PGA Tour and look forward to working with all if you in 2025,” Monahan said in his memo. “Thanks for your ongoing commitment to the Tour. We’ve got a transformative year ahead of us, and so much we can accomplish together.”
