Keegan Bradley is expected to stay in the headlines for a while after his American side lost to Europe in the Ryder Cup.

Luke Donald had some kind words for Bradley following the contest at Bethpage Black, where Europe came away with a 15-13 win.

Despite a late push from the Americans, the 39-year-old has still faced criticism for his captaincy and how things turned out.

Bradley, who stepped into the role following Zach Johnson, admitted feeling disappointed about losing on home soil.

Johnson also faced defeat as captain back in 2023, with Donald leading Europe to victory both times

This time, the focus has shifted to a selection decision involving LIV Golf, with former US Ryder Cup captain Paul Azinger weighing in on what he believes could have changed the outcome.

Speaking on Golf Subpar, the captain of the successful 2008 campaign explained: “I feel like once we dipped into the well on LIV, we probably should have brought five times major winning [Brooks] Koepka who won the PGA Championship at Bethpage Black.

“Then maybe pick Patrick Reed and Dustin Johnson. If you are going to dip into the LIV pool and pull Bryson [DeChambeau].

“I would have really probably pulled Koepka. There is no way Koepka is not going to man up and play great this Ryder Cup but they did not.

“But Europe did not have a problem bringing [Jon] Rahm and [Tyrrell] Hatton, they play for the Smashers over there on the LIV Tour, so they are already teammates. That was a brilliant pair and a brilliant pick, Luke did everything right.”

Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton were both strong performers for Europe at Bethpage. Hatton finished with 3.5 points, second only to Tommy Fleetwood’s four, while Rahm added three of his own.

DeChambeau was one of the few bright spots for the US team throughout the week. He was the only LIV Golf player to automatically qualify for Bradley’s side.

Hatton also earned his spot in Donald’s line-up automatically, while Rahm joined as a captain’s pick – a decision that paid off quickly.

The same probably could not be said about potential picks like Koepka, Reed or Johnson. None were coming into the event in top form or off any big results.

All three are major champions at least once in their careers but did not show enough to convince Bradley they should be part of the team. Still, their experience might have helped a squad that included four rookies navigating their first Ryder Cup pressure
