PGA Tour: Daughter of Camilo Villegas dies at 22 months

On Monday, the PGA Tour confirmed via an official statement that Camilo Villegas’ daughter Mia passed away on Sunday.

Mia, 22 months old, suffered from tumors on her brain and spine.

The four-time PGA TOUR winner announced his daughter's condition last month. Villegas and his wife first noticed something was wrong with Mia in late February.

As noted by the Tour, Villegas updated his daughter's condition during a June press conference:

“After the surgery, when it was time to remove the stitches, they learned the growth had become pretty aggressive. We were told we needed to start treatment right away, so they kept us there. Physically, though, she wasn’t ready to get the kind of chemo doctors were hoping for.

It’s not easy, but I have actually seen Mía playing while she’s crying. She does want to play. She’s a kid. She’s young and naive, but she’s also really tough. We just don’t know. The doctors explained that sometimes the tumors grow fast and disappear fast.”

Villegas hasn't competed since the Korn Ferry Challenge at TPC Sawgrass held from June 11-14
