Former PGA Championship winner Jason Dufner still has a lot to say about the latest golf news. It’s almost hard to believe that he’s 48 years old and only two years away from the possibility of playing on the PGA Tour Champions.
The Auburn, Ala., resident told Athlon Sports in a longer exclusive interview with "Beyond the Clubhouse" podcast that he was considering the 50 and over Tour. Dufner still has thoughts on Scottie Scheffler and the other top PGA Tour golfers.
In the meantime, Dufner is playing a lot of recreational golf with friends in Alabama and not focused on competing. In fact, Dufner is so removed from consistently competitive golf that he didn’t find the time to watch The Open Championship at Royal Portrush.
“I didn’t really watch it,” Dufner said at the Politics and Pros event benefitting the First Tee of Greater Washington, DC. “I’ll watch the Ryder Cup. That’s one of the few golf events that I’ll probably tune in and casually watch.”

That said, the five-time PGA Tour winner does keep an eye on what World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is up to, especially in the major championship department. Scheffler has already notched four wins in 2025, a number that could grow by the time the Tour Championship marks the end of this year's schedule.
“Scottie’s obviously had a nice run," Dufner admitted during the exclusive interview. "He’s one of the guys who’s become a really good player and he’s figured out that special secret here for the last couple years.
"That secret gives him a little bit of an edge and he seems to be the guy at the top right now. And good for him.”
