The PGA Tour has a championship coming up May 15–18 at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. A star-studded lineup will gather for the 107th PGA Championship, the year’s second major, all aiming to lift the Wanamaker Trophy. But the tour announced some concerning news.
The PGA Tour posted on X (formerly Twitter) on Tuesday that eight-time winner Billy Horschel will undergo right hip surgery early next week.
In his own social media post, the 38-year-old declared the news, alongside an embedded clip that featured further details.
"Health update. After consulting with doctors and my team, I have decided to have right hip surgery early next week out in Colorado," the post read. "It’s an unfortunate situation with so many great events left on the calendar but this is a preventative measure. I’m already itching to start rehab, get back to practicing and I look forward to returning to the course sometime around late summer/early fall."

Horschel, who sits No. 24 in the Official World Golf Rankings, made 12 starts this season with two top-10 finishes before withdrawing from the Zurich Classic due to the hip issue. He currently ranks No. 16 in U.S. Ryder Cup points, sitting outside the top six automatic qualifying spots for the biennial competition in September.
