After months of preparation, PGA Tour Studios is now releasing its first weekly show.  The new show, called The Drop, is presented by the emergency cleanup service, Servpro, a partner of the Tour since 2014.  This new show will help fans connect more with the players and be more informed on what’s happening behind the scenes.  All directly from the PGA Tour every Monday.  Now, where can fans see it, and what can they expect from it?

What The Drop Will Do

The Drop is a half-hour program that will see a different guest each week.  The sneak peek the Tour released sets the tone pretty well.  The show will be hosted by Lauren Withrow and Matt Every, with four other anchors on hand who can tap in throughout the season.  The tone is more of a casual, laid-back feel, more like how friends catch up on the highlights.  For its inaugural broadcast, fans saw Jordan Spieth and Luke Clanton, one of the Tour’s freshest faces.  Other players will rotate in throughout the show’s airing.  The new studio is filled with excitement for their first show, as Michael Riceman expressed.

“We’re excited to feature Jordan and Luke in our inaugural episode of ‘The Drop,’” said Michael Riceman, senior vice president, content and production.  “With the investment in PGA Tour Studios, we are better equipped than ever to bring our sport closer to our ever-growing fan base.  This new studio format allows the team to bring a fresh dynamic approach to our latest original series.”

The Drop will also be a bit like Netflix’s popular show Full Swing in the sense that fans will see behind-the-scenes stuff with their favorite players.  Unlike full swing, fans can’t binge an entire season until the season ends.  It also has the advantage of being more of a news broadcast.  Being able to see the players fresh out of an event when the event is still fresh in the public consciousness.  Fans can also look forward to seeing The Drop cover side Tours like the Korn Ferry Tour to see what fresh faces are trying for a tour card.

When and Where Can Fans Find This Show

The Drop has an eight o’clock airtime on Monday evenings.  The show will be airing on The Golf Channel, the official PGA Tour YouTube channel, and FAST Channels.  The main show will be aired from the Tour’s headquarters in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida.  Additionally, with anchors reporting from events as they happen.  The Studio is based in a prime location for all things golf.  As the studio has access to the PGA archives.  Fans can look forward to seeing historic footage from past events of the old greats.

PGA Tour Studios’ Future Plans

PGA Tour Studios is also planning on creating a show for Fridays to cover the 36-hole cut.   On Sunday morning a pregame show for the final rounds of an event.  For now, it’s just a Monday show, but being directly controlled and supported by the PGA.  Fans can look forward to seeing everything unfold straight from the horse’s mouth.  This new studio has big plans, and The Drop is just the start.
