'Probably the hardest nine holes,' Scottie Scheffler sheds light on conditions at Round 3 of 2024 Open Championship

Scottie Scheffler played Round 3 of the 2024 Open Championship at Royal Troon. Scheffler scored 64, which was impressive given the circumstances. He made four birdies and had no bogeys during the round. This score put him in eighth place, four strokes behind the leader, Billy Horschel. He is now tied for the eighth spot.

Scheffler stated that this round was one of the most difficult he had ever played. Despite the hurdles, he remains a strong candidate for the championship as the last round approaches.

Scheffler is presently one of the players pursuing leader Shane Lowry, behind by three strokes into the weekend. The world number one is enjoying a fantastic season and has already won a major in 2024.

Despite a poor start, he has slowly moved up the rankings. Scheffler scored an even-par 71 in the third round, battling under difficult conditions. He is two strokes behind the leader, with a chance to win his second major of the year. Ted Scott, Scheffler’s caddy, has been dealing with an illness during the event. Scheffler’s ball-striking has been excellent, and if his putter improves, he might make a run on Sunday.

The final round of the 2024 Open Championship will begin at 8:55 a.m. ET with Scottie Scheffler, who’ll be teamed with Daniel Brown. This round is critical because Scheffler will look to seal a victory after a solid performance throughout the tournament.

The final round promises to be tough, with numerous players vying for the trophy. Following Scheffler and Brown, Xander Schauffele and Justin Rose will tee off at 9:05 a.m. ET, followed by Sam Burns at 9:15 a.m. ET, setting up an entertaining finale at Royal Troon.
