There are talented football players at just about every school and in every classification in the Lone Star State, including 2026 WR/DB Canaan Factor. He is a modern-day prep version of Jim Thorpe.

At Fort Worth Country Day High School in Fort Worth, Texas, Factor was the “X-Factor” for the Falcons (7-2) in 2024. At 6-foot-2, 195 pounds, Factor plays wide receiver on offense and defensive back on defense.

As a dynamic receiver, Factor caught 35 passes for 461 yards. Factor led the team with eight touchdowns. As a defender, Factor led the team with five INTs.

For his efforts, Factor earned several awards and accolades:

  • TXPS SPC Receiver of the Year
  • No. 1 SPC 3A WR by SPC
  • Ranked among Top 20 Texas WRs in TXPS (#17)

Factor is leaving a legacy at FWCD. As a three-sport star for the Falcons, Factor was recognized as the school’s Male Athlete of the Year as a freshman, sophomore and junior.

He is a three-time All-Conference selection in basketball and was twice named the team’s MVP, nominated by the players. In track and field, Factor is the 4x100 champion and holds the school records in the 4x100 and 4x200, breaking records that stood for 30 years.

Factor excels in the classroom as well. He hits the books to maintain a 3.75 GPA and takes honors and AP courses.

Factor leads from the front and is the ultimate teammate. He is the kind of player that coaches covet: hard-working, a leader on the field and in the locker room, and an athlete with the will to help his team win. Factor has the heart of a champion and is a winner. That is an attribute that cannot be coached.

In addition, when it comes to football, Factor has made it clear: he does not want a dime of NIL money. What he wants is to be part of a football team that is a family, that plays together as brothers.

Factor is a throwback to when football players were just that, football players. Not “hired” hands that permeate college football today.

Factor’s coaches all praise him as an athlete and as a person.

Head football coach Keith Burns said, “Canaan is a three-sport star and has all the qualities you’d want. I believe you will be impressed with what you’ll see from him. I’ll put my reputation on the line for Canaan.”

Track & Field head coach Jared Connaughton, OLY, had this to say about Factor, “Canaan is one of the most impressive student-athletes I’ve had the privilege to coach. He leads by example. Showcasing toughness, versatility, patience, and an unwavering desire to compete.”

Joe Breedlove, head basketball coach, said “Canaan is gifted with an enormous amount of talent. That said, he never takes his talents for granted as he works with gratitude and perseverance.”

If college coaches are looking for a standout, standup guy who runs out of the tunnel every game with the desire to help his team win and is all about the “we” in football, then take a hard look at Factor.

The Godfather of Recruiting, Mike Farrell, said this about Factor:

“2026 verified 3-star WR Canaan Factor has size at 6-2, 195 but is always shifty and a great YAC receiver.”
