Rickie Fowler’s Open Championship campaign ended in disappointment last week, with the 36-year-old missing the cut at Royal Troon. Despite flashes of his signature flair, Fowler couldn’t find the consistency needed on the tough links course. Now, attention shifts to the 3M Open in Minnesota, where Fowler headlines a marquee group alongside Tony Finau and Taylor Pendrith.

But questions surround Fowler's health heading into the tournament. Just days ago, he withdrew from the WM Phoenix Open before the second round, citing illness, according to the Golf Channel.

This came after a rough 3-over 74 opening round, where he caught eyes in a full camo outfit before quietly exiting the tournament. The PGA Tour confirmed his withdrawal Friday morning, noting that Fowler had been scheduled to tee off at 10:15 a.m. EST with Billy Horschel and Sahith Theegala.

Fowler, who won the Phoenix Open in 2019, has had a mixed record at the event recently, with three missed cuts and a withdrawal in his last five appearances.

As for the 3M Open, it tees off Thursday, July 25 at TPC Twin Cities, with Fowler’s group set to start Round 1 at 8:29 a.m. ET and Round 2 at 1:54 p.m. ET. The tournament offers a late-season opportunity for players to gain FedEx Cup points ahead of the playoffs.

Fowler, known for his charisma and fan appeal, will be closely watched not just for his performance but also for signs of recovery from his recent illness. With the regular season winding down, the pressure is on for the veteran to deliver.
