It's been quite a while since Rickie Fowler took home some silverware to add to his cabinet. The 37-year-old golfer with almost $55 million in career earnings recorded his last win at the Rocket Mortgage Classic back in 2023.
Last year was very difficult for the star, as he managed only three top-10 finishes. He was determined to turn things around toward the end and recorded consecutive top-10 finishes at the FedEx St. Jude Championship and the BMW Championship.
"I was dealing with some bursitis and fluid and had some inflammation there. Basically hurt all last year," he revealed during the WM Phoenix Open. "Was on pain meds all year. Did some PRP injections in September, so I had six weeks where I really didn’t touch a club."
This year, Fowler is looking a little bit better comparatively. Amid the new season, he is also devoting his time to a good cause.
He has collaborated with the ALS Bridge Foundation on an initiative to raise money by auctioning off a get-together at "Michael Jordan’s exclusive club for lunch and 18 holes of golf."
The foundation is the brainchild of Peter Broome, a well-known golf personality who was diagnosed with ALS (amyotrophic lateral sclerosis) in August 2024. Since then, he has made it his mission to fight the disease, which destroys nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord.
ALS leads to the loss of voluntary muscle control. It causes muscle weakness, twitching and paralysis, typically resulting in death from respiratory failure within three to five years.
Fowler is not alone in this effort. Justin Thomas, Luke Donald and several others have joined the cause. Interested fans can bid on their favorite experience, and 100% of the proceeds will go toward funding the fight against ALS.
