PGA Tour superstar Rory McIlroy always had the Tour’s back, especially after a plethora of talent left to join the Saudi-backed LIV Golf. The younger tour is living its final days, as Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund announced it would top funding for the competition.

Many have speculated about what this could mean for the biggest names in the competition, especially Bryson DeChambeau. The two-time major champion could have an easy way to rejoin the tour, more so after authorities decided to change a major rule to allow his return.

A lot has been said about this situation, with many not seeing with good eyes a potential DeChambeau return.

Amid all the rumors, back-to-back Masters champion Rory McIlroy questioned Bryson DeChambeau’s hunger to compete with the best players in the world. After making his thoughts clear about LIV Golf, he commented on the potential return of some players.

“Obviously, guys over there are under contract,” McIlroy said. “If they are able to keep it going and get a schedule together next year, it seems like those guys are still going to play the majority of their golf on LIV in whatever form it takes.

“I’ve said at the start I was probably too judgmental of the guys that went. I’m not going to judge anyone for not wanting to play on the PGA Tour.

“But if you want to be the most competitive golfer you can be, this is the place to be. And if you don’t want to play here, I think that says something about you.”

McIlroy and DeChambeau have competed against each other for multiple years. Fans want them to

go at it again, but it might not be easy.
