Rory McIlroy throws 'Super Bowl' dig at LIV Golf after FedEx Cup victory

On Sunday, Rory Mcllroy won the FedEx Cup, becoming the first player to win the tournament three times.

Mcllroy rode an incredible come-from-behind effort to clinch the final event of the PGA Tour season.

Despite coming back from six strokes down, Mcllroy still had some energy to throw a dig at LIV Golf.

After winning the title, Mcllroy headed toward the media center for his press conference, reportedly chanting, "Super Bowl champ!"

As Golf Digest's Ryan Herrington pointed out, Mcllroy directed the jeer at Robert Walters, the lawyer for several suspended golfers, after he described the FedEx Cup as "the Super Bowl of golf" during a court hearing.

Mcllroy took another shot at the PGA Tour's rising competitor during his presser.

Recapping his late comeback, Mcllroy poked a little fun at LIV Golf's 54-hole format, saying, "On the 70th hole is a nice time to take the lead of a golf tournament, or the 52nd hole if play somewhere else."

It's been a busy weekend in the PGA Tour vs. LIV Golf saga.

LIV Golf joined the antitrust lawsuit against the PGA tour on Saturday. On Sunday, the favorite for PGA Tour rookie of the year, Cameron Young, announced he was staying with the PGA Tour. This news comes amid reporters that several golfers, including No. 2 ranked Cameron Smith, could be jumping ship to LIV Golf as soon as next week.
