Rory McIlroy’s first Champions Dinner is already one for the record books. The defending Masters champion has unveiled a lavish menu that is among the most expensive in Augusta National’s storied history.
McIlroy’s got 12 items on the menu. From bacon-wrapped dates to rock shrimp tempura as appetizers to Wagyu Filet Mignon as the main course, McIlroy hasn’t gone easy on his wallet.
Hard Rock Bet estimated the menu to be around $250 to $300 per person. Only Hideki Matsuyama’s Champions Dinner tops that, with an estimated cost of $275 to $350.
“I think it would be pretty presumptuous to have a menu in your head before you actually win the tournament,” McIlroy said once. “But I always thought about if I win the Masters one day, what would I want it to look like? What would I like to serve?”
McIlroy’s dinner costs significantly rise because of proteins like elk, tuna, and foie gras carpaccio, which are difficult to source. The Augusta National’s culinary team had even travelled to New York City to take notes from the Le Bernardin chefs.
“It’s a really simple dish, but every time we go to that restaurant [Le Bernardin], that’s the one thing that I have to have.” The team reportedly learned about the way McIlroy likes yellow-fin tuna carpaccio.
Japan’s first Masters champion stands at the top of the expensive dinners’ list. In 2022, he chose sushi and chicken yakitori as appetizers, miso-glazed black cod and A5 Wagyu beef ribeye as entrees, and finished it off with Japanese strawberry shortcake.
Matsuyama, as other champions do, brought in a flavour of his home cuisine to the dinner. Wagyu Beef and the sushi skewers elevated the price.
Tiger Woods has hosted five of them. From cheeseburgers to Augusta Rolls, he has served it all. However, the 2020 menu was his most expensive one. John Rahm chose the Ibericos in 2024, and Patrick Reed preferred rib-eye steak in 2019.
On the other hand, Green Jacket winners like Jordan Spieth and Danny Willett went along with “homely” style dinners, which were comparatively easy on the wallet.
Tuesdays have always been for the Champions Dinner at Augusta National in The Masters week. The menu is out before dinner every time, and this time around, McIlroy is eager to host.
“Can’t wait to host the dinner on Tuesday night… And then, obviously, be a part of that dinner for many, many years to come,” Rory McIlroy said about the upcoming 2026 dinner.
