Ryder Cup 2023 odds: Here's which team is favored to win the big event

In September 2022, YardBarker did a look-ahead at the 2023 Ryder Cup to see which team was the early favorite to win the big match-play event. And even though Team Europe has won seven out of the last 10 Ryder Cups and will have a "home-field advantage" in Rome this year, Team U.S.A. was the clear favorite at the time.

Now, with the 2023 Ryder Cup now a little over four months away, it's time to look back at those odds and see if anything has changed.

While odds for big events typically ebb and flow as time goes on, the odds for the upcoming Ryder Cup haven't budged. DraftKings still has Team U.S.A. listed as the -190 favorite over Team Europe, the +1200 underdog.

The United States did win the last Ryder Cup in 2021, which was played in Wisconsin. But it has historically not faired well when competing abroad, which would make many think that the Europeans have the advantage.

But it looks like the depleted field still plays a big role in who oddsmakers like to win the biennial tournament. While both teams will be weaker because LIV Golf players currently aren't allowed to participate, the hit to Team Europe is noticeably worse -- even with Jon Rahm and Rory McIlroy still on the team.

It's worth keeping an eye on those Ryder Cup odds as the summer months get underway and more big golf events take place. It will be interesting to see if they change at all with a couple of majors on the horizon.

The 2023 Ryder Cup tees off from Marco Simone Golf and Country Club in Rome on September 29.
