Scottie Scheffler has arrived at the 2024 PGA Champion in Valhalla. He will play in the major tournament weeks after winning his second Masters and welcoming his first child with his wife Meredith.

Scheffler is the No. 1 golfer in the world and his having a strong 2024 season. After winning the Masters, the 27-year-old earned a victory at the RBC Heritage for his fourth win in five starts. He is now looking to win the PGA Championship after earning a second-place finish last year.

During the Masters, Scheffler’s unborn baby became a story, telling reporters he will be “ready to go at a moment’s notice.”

“As far as her going into labor, I wouldn’t say I’m very concerned, we haven’t seen any of the early signs, but pregnancy is weird and it can happen at any time. But, yeah, open lines of communication and she can get ahold of me if she needs to,” Scheffler said, per the New York Post.

Scheffler also talked about how he and his wife are preparing for the baby. “People have asked us how our preparation is going for the baby and it’s like, well, I feel like we are a little underprepared. The nursery isn’t quite ready and we’ve had some issues at our house the last few weeks. I think that’s the exciting part. I think we are definitely underprepared to be parents,” he said.

Scottie Scheffler has been on top for two years

In his career, Scheffler has won the Masters twice and eight additional tournaments on the PGA Tour. He became No. 1 in the world in March 2022 and has held the spot ever since. Before this year’s Masters, Scheffler spoke to Golfweek about handling the pressure to succeed.

“How I deal with pressure and expectations is all through my preparation,” he said. “When I show up to a tournament, I want to be as prepared as possible so that when I step up on the first tee to hit that first shot, I can tell myself that I have done everything that I can in order to play well at this tournament and in turn, I can let go of all the pressure and compete. When I go into the big tournaments like the Major championships, or any event for that matter, I just try to control what I can control, show up with a good attitude, being committed to my shots and being prepared.”
