Scottie Scheffler is aiming to secure his second victory in just his fourth PGA Tour appearance of the 2026 season, this time at the Genesis Invitational.

Scheffler is in great form after finishing fourth at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am last week, highlighted by a closing round of 63. He’ll be heading into Riviera with plenty of confidence.

And he didn’t shy away from that confidence, speaking positively about his chances straight after Sunday’s round. It would take something special to bet against him right now.

The world number one has been putting together the whole package lately, and if he sharpens up his iron play even a little this week, it’s hard to see many stopping him at Riviera.

The consistency Scheffler has shown recently hasn’t gone unnoticed either. There have even been claims that Rory McIlroy admires how steady he’s become.

Scheffler’s record speaks for itself: 20 wins in his last 83 PGA Tour starts. Now he’ll be looking to add another trophy to that tally this weekend in Los Angeles.

Scheffler doesn’t have the best track record at the Genesis Invitational.

He’s made six cuts in seven appearances, with just three top-10 finishes. His best result was a T-3 in 2025, but that year’s event wasn’t even played at Riviera.

This week, he’ll be looking to turn things around and deliver a better performance than he has in previous years.

After the Pro-Am on Wednesday, Scheffler spoke to the media and was asked for his honest take on Riviera as a golf course.

“As far as the golf course goes, I think it’s an interesting golf course, because there are not really many hazards,” said Scheffler. “There’s not really too much out of bounds that comes into play.”

“Like, when you think of some of the other great golf courses like TPC Sawgrass, you get a lot of water that comes into play.”

Scheffler continued: “And when you look at this golf course, and you look at it on paper, it seems kind of easy. Then you start playing it and you hit a ball in the rough on two…”

“You’re like, ‘man this hole is kind of hard’.”

“And then you don’t hit the fairway on three and you’re like ‘oh shoot’ like I don’t know how I’m gonna hit the ball on the green here.’”

Scheffler concluded: “I feel like this golf course can be about as frustrating to play as any one Tour ‘just with all the little tricks that it has to it.

Scottie Scheffler’s PGA Tour stats in 2026

It’s too early in the season to make any big calls about Scheffler’s form, but even so, his early numbers are starting to tell a bit of a story.

Even though we’re just three tournaments into the season, some of Scheffler’s numbers are already drawing attention. His strokes gained approach in particular stands out as something worth monitoring as the year goes on.

His strokes gained approach jumps off the page. Over the last three seasons, he led that category across the tour and hasn’t been far behind early this year.

That consistency helped him pick up one win and two top-four finishes from just three starts so far this year.

If he manages to find that same level again, it wouldn’t be surprising to see his win total climb quickly.

If Scottie Scheffler ranks inside the top-20 for strokes gained approach at Riviera this week, there’s a good chance he leaves with another trophy in hand.
