2025 was Scottie Scheffler's best year at the major yet, winning the PGA Championship and The Open while finishing top seven in both the Masters and the U.S. Open. But with the Masters less than one month away, Scheffler is nursing some kind of injury that doesn't seem to be going away.
With just two tournaments to go before the Masters in April, the Texas Children's Houston Open is a great opportunity for contenders to get in a tune-up before the biggest event of the year. Unfortunately, Scheffler won't be a part of it.
On Tuesday, the PGA Tour announced that Scheffler has withdrawn from the tournament. He will be replaced by Matt Kuchar.

Scheffler missed last week's Valspar Championship. He had previously finished outside the top-20 at the Players Championship, having only narrowly made the cut to begin with.
Next week's Valero Texas Open will be the last tune-up event for players to compete in before the Masters itself.
Over the past 12 months Scheffler has been on one of the best runs of his career - which is already saying something given how dominant he was in 2023 and 2024. In 2025 he won the aforementioned two majors along with four other PGA Tour events between May and September.
Scheffler kicked off 2026 in style, winning The American Express tournament by four strokes. His active streak of 149 weeks as the world No. 1 in golf are behind only Tiger Woods himself, but by a large margin. Woods has streaks of 281 and 264 weeks at the very top.
Will Scheffler overcome whatever is keeping him out of the PGA Tour right now to put up another strong showing at The Masters?
