PGA Tour star Scottie Scheffler could join Tiger Woods as one of the biggest absences in the upcoming 2026 The Masters. Scheffler, who once again showed how committed he was to improving his game at the Players Championship, could miss the first major of the season.
The No. 1 player on the Tour withdrew from the Houston Open for an unspecified reason, raising eyebrows among fans.
More recently, he skipped this week’s Valero Texas Open. There has been no update on whether he would be back for The Masters.
Golf Channel reported on March 24 that Scheffler withdrew from the Texas Children’s Houston Open as his wife awaited the “imminent birth” of their second child.
“Though a reason wasn’t immediately provided by the PGA Tour, Golf Channel has confirmed that the reason was not injury-related but rather the imminent birth of Scheffler’s second child,” Brentley Romine wrote on March 24.
At the time of writing, there has been no update on whether Scottie’s wife, Meredith, gave birth to their second child. The Masters will run from April 9-12, with Scheffler considered one of the main attractions, if he is able to play.
