Shane Lowry has put himself in a strong position at the Dubai Invitational, heading into the weekend level with Nacho Elvira on five-under-par.

While speaking about this week’s DP World Tour event, Lowry shared some interesting thoughts on the PGA Tour’s AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Lowry had a memorable 2025, highlighted by his hole-in-one on the famous par-three seventh hole.

The 38-year-old already has a decorated career under his belt.

He lifted the Claret Jug in 2019 and has been part of three Ryder Cup teams, winning twice.

This season, he will be aiming to get back to his best and add more highlights to his impressive CV.

Lowry carded a solid 68 in the second round of the tournament and made it clear how pleased he was with his performance.

According to the Irishman, one of the main reasons he is playing well at Dubai Creek Resort is that he feels so relaxed out on the course.

Speaking after his round, Lowry did not hold back about why this event stands out for him.

“It’s great. I said, you might have the best Pro-Am in the world.

“Although it’s a bit windy, it’s better weather than Dunhill and less stressful than Pebble Beach.

“Lovely to be out there with a few friends and enjoy my golf.”

Lowry’s claim is quite significant.

The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is a highly-revered golf event.

But there is no question – Lowry clearly prefers Dubai over the Monterrey Peninsula.

Shane Lowry reflects on valuable lesson learned at Dubai Invitational

Heading into the 2026 season, Lowry discussed his feelings about the present condition of his game.

“Yeah, very happy,” he admitted.

“It was hard. It was tricky. You know, like that putt on the last hole, you don’t hole a lot of putts like that, and I did well. I did a good job.

“A couple sloppy mistakes on the front nine, but I was playing good and giving myself chances.

“Just had a great day out there. I really enjoyed it. I had a great group.

“Two great amateurs, and yeah, it was – playing golf in a good frame of mind makes it a little bit easier. That’s sort of a little lesson for me for the rest of the season.

“If I play golf like that for the rest of the season, in that frame of mind, I’ll be pretty good.”

For Lowry, a good 2026 seems to hinge on him enjoying himself – and few golfers are better at having fun than the Irishman.
