In what was one of the most memorable Masters tournaments in history, Northern Ireland’s Rory McIlroy captured the 2025 green jacket in a playoff against Justin Rose to capture his career grand slam.
By winning the event, McIlroy took home $4.2 million worth of prize money, an amount twice what Scottie Scheffler, one of the favorites for this year’s tournament, took home upon winning the green jacket just four years ago.
So, what's the purse in 2026?
Event organizers have not yet announced how much this year’s winner will make at the conclusion of the 2026 tournament on Sunday, April 12.

From 2024 to 2025, the winner’s total went up $800,000. The total purse last year was $21 million paid out in decreasing amounts the further down the leaderboard a golfer finished. That purse was more than $1 million more than the previous year.
Masters officials won’t state the winner’s amount or total purse this year until at least the second day of the tournament when the cut line is made official.
Given last year’s dramatics and the likely increase in eyeballs this year, don’t expect that number to go down.
As of Monday, tee times and pairings for the opening round on Thursday have yet to be determined. This year's Masters runs from April 9 to 12, and here's how to watch every part of Augusta week.
