Keegan Bradley has a few big calls to make before the Ryder Cup, and one of them is who should partner Bryson DeChambeau. The LIV Golf star could have a major impact for the US team, so finding the right fit matters.
Bryson DeChambeau looks set to make his return to the Ryder Cup stage in September. The Crushers captain was not involved in Rome in 2023 as USA fell to a humbling defeat.

But Keegan Bradley has no intention to leave him out. Bradley confirmed that DeChambeau will be an important part of his team during The Open Championship this past week. DeChambeau may well qualify for the team automatically as he currently sits fifth in the standings.
The two-time US Open champion has experienced both sides of the Ryder Cup. He lost all three matches he played at Le Golf National in 2018, while he played his part in USA’s record win at Whistling Straits three years later.
DeChambeau does bring plenty of energy into match play events, which can be a positive, but also something that needs managing if things start going against him early on.
One of the biggest shocks during the 2023 Ryder Cup was how poorly Scottie Scheffler played. The world number one did not win a single match in the four sessions he played in Rome, while he was beaten 9&7 alongside Brooks Koepka in one of the most shocking Ryder Cup moments of all-time.
Scheffler started off with Sam Burns before switching to Koepka for two matches. Even before Rome, Scheffler and Burns had struggled together, failing to secure a full point across three matches at the previous year’s Presidents Cup.
With both players heading into Bethpage with questions over their form and partnerships, there’s still time for things to change. At Whistling Straits back in 2021, DeChambeau and Scheffler played together just once, but it went well.
They took on Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton on Friday afternoon and came away with a 3&2 victory. It was DeChambeau’s first-ever win at a Ryder Cup.
But even if Bradley does not want to go down that route again, Collin Morikawa could be another player who is well suited to playing alongside DeChambeau given his accuracy from tee-to-green.
At the 2021 Ryder Cup, it was DeChambeau who joined forces with rookie Scottie Scheffler. Steve Stricker’s decision to select Scheffler raised a few eyebrows at the time, as he hadn’t yet won on the PGA Tour.
The two played twice together, winning one match and halving another against Jon Rahm and Tyrrell Hatton.

After their Saturday afternoon win, Scheffler shared a comment about DeChambeau that could stick with Bradley this year.
“I must say it’s more fun when I’m on his team than when I’m playing against him. It’s great. It’s really fun to watch. The guy is really talented, and couldn’t imagine a better partner,” he said.
Now both among the top players in the world, there shouldn’t be many Americans who’d have trouble playing alongside them.
Still, pairing them up again could send a strong message from Team USA right out of the gate at Bethpage Black this September.
