It's almost time for the second major championship of the 2025 season. Looking ahead to the PGA Championship, which tees off Thursday, here are the three most intriguing storylines to follow at Quail Hollow Club.
It's rare for the top players in the world to be playing their best golf all at the same time, but that's what we have at the PGA Championship. World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler is coming off a dominant, eight-shot victory at the CJ Cup Byron Nelson. Rory McIlroy already has three wins this season, including an emotional victory at The Masters in April. Bryson DeChambeau won his last start at LIV Golf Korea to mark his fourth straight top-five finish.
As PGA Championship week begins, here are the current odds @BetMGM:

Even Justin Thomas, who isn't normally considered a member of that top tier, has a win and two runner-up finishes in his last four starts.
It's impossible to knock an argument for any of those four players to win at Quail Hollow. The way they're all playing, we could be in for a star-studded Sunday finish.
Not every big name is playing great golf leading up to the second major of the year.
Although Rahm consistently stacks up top-10s on LIV, he's finished T45, cut, T7 and T14 in his last four major championship appearances.
Schauffele has four straight top-20 finishes, but he still hasn't returned to the elite level he was at before suffering a rib injury in December.
Aberg, after a hot start to the season, has two missed cuts and two finishes outside the top 50 in his last five starts.
All three players are top contenders on paper, but their confidence may not be where it needs to be heading to Quail Hollow.
Aside from DeChambeau, Patrick Reed might be the most confident LIV player in the field this week. The American finished third at The Masters and was T2 the last time Quail Hollow hosted the PGA Championship. Other than DeChambeau and Reed, it's impossible to forecast where LIV players will finish.
Rahm hasn't been playing up to his expectations in majors. Joaquin Niemann still doesn't have a top-15 finish in a major despite dominating LIV Golf week in and week out. Tyrrell Hatton has just one top-10 finish in a major since the 2019 Open Championship.
Brooks Koepka, Cameron Smith, Dustin Johnson, Sergio Garcia and Phil Mickelson are all major champions, but none of them seem to be legitimate contenders with how poorly they're playing.
