Despite not teeing it up at his Hero World Challenge last week in the Bahamas, 15-time major champion Tiger Woods committed to the PNC Championship on Tuesday, as he and 15-year-old son Charlie are set to play in the event for the fifth consecutive year.

“I’m very excited to head back to the PNC Championship next week with Charlie,” Tiger said in a statement. “Playing together is something we look forward to and it’s always more special when you’re surrounded by friends and family.

Woods stated he "wasn't tournament sharp" enough to play at the Hero World Challenge, where he is the tournament host, as the 82-time PGA Tour winner had a microdiscectomy in September to help alleviate pain down his legs. However, with the PNC Championship sanctioned by the PGA Tour Champions, Woods can ride in a golf cart throughout the two-day, 36-hole competition.

'Big Cat' only played five tournaments during the 2024 season and didn't get much out of them. Woods withdrew from The Genesis Invitational in February and missed the cut at the PGA Championship, U.S. Open, and The Open Championship. He did manage to set a Masters record by making his 24th consecutive cut but floundered over the weekend, slipping to a 60th-place finish.

Woods admitted last week in the Bahamas that he's still "got a long way to go" before returning to PGA Tour golf, but the "fire still burns" to compete at the highest level. It's been five years since his most recent win at the 2019 ZOZO Championship, where he tied Sam Snead for the PGA Tour record of 82 career titles.

"Whether my commitment going forward is once a month, yeah, I could say that all over again," Woods said last week. "But I truly don't know. I'm just trying to rehab and still get stronger and better and feel better, really give myself the best chance I can going into next year."

The PNC Championship is set for Dec. 21-22 at the Ritz-Carlton Golf Club in Orlando, Florida. Tiger and Charlie have never won the event, but they finished runner-up to John Daly and son John Daly II in 2021 and placed T5 last year.
