Tiger Woods’ son Charlie is following in his father’s footsteps and quickly picking up on the winning ways of the family. Charlie Woods’ high school golf team at The Benjamin School won Florida’s FHSAA Class A state championship.

Woods finished fourth out of five on his team and tied for 26th overall in the tournament by posting scores of 78 and 76. The 14-year-old freshman hoisted the trophy with his team, accomplishing a feat that his father never did in his high school days – winning a state championship.

Though he didn’t win a state title when Tiger Woods was 15 years old and a student at Western High School in Anaheim, California, he became the youngest U.S. Junior Amateur champion.

Charlie had one of the best highlights of the week as he popped in a chip and celebrated with his father’s signature fist pump.

Woods’ TGL league delayed

Just three months before its debut, Tigers Woods’ new TGL league announced a major delay due to equipment damage. The 18-player league was supposed to air on ESPN and ESPN+ at the start of next year, beginning on January 9th. However, now it will be another year until the TGL is able to launch. Four cities were supposed to host teams: four cities that will feature teams with Atlanta, Boston, New York, and Los Angeles.

“Overnight on Tuesday, November 14, a failure of the temporary power system and backup systems used during construction caused the dome to deflate, which caused damage to the air-supported dome section of the site,” TGL announced. “There were no injuries, and most of the technology was not impacted.”

The PGA TOUR leadership and commercial partners, SoFi, ESPN and Palm Beach State College, have decided to postpone the start of the TGL season until early 2025. Woods, who is making his return to the PGA at the Hero World Challenge on Nov. 30, released a statement, along with his partner for TGL, Rory McIlroy.

“I’ve been a believer in TGL, and as the momentum has built this past year, I’m even more excited about what this can become for fans of the game all around the world,” Woods said. “Although the events of last week will force us to make adjustments to our timelines, I’m fully confident that this concept will be brought to life by our great committed players.”

“The postponement brings mixed feelings of disappointment and excitement,” McIlroy said. “Above all, we are happy that no one was injured. We are looking forward to the launch of TGL. Given the circumstances, while the delay is disappointing, the postponement will allow us to regroup, refocus and return stronger.”
