Tiger Woods to skip U.S. Open, plans to play at Open Championship

Tiger Woods' next attempt at coming within two major championships of all-time leader Jack Nicklaus will have to wait at least one more month. Woods is also currently tied with the late Sam Snead for first in all-time PGA Tour wins at 82.

Woods hasn't earned a PGA Tour victory since October 2019 at the Zozo Championship. The last major championship win for the 46-year-old came with his improbable first-place finish at the 2019 Masters.

Following his serious car crash in February 2021, Woods indicated that his full-time career as a pro golfer was finished, but he made a shocking return to competition for the 2022 Masters in April. After a one-under par first round, Woods struggled in subsequent play and finished the event at 13-over par.

Woods struggled in May's PGA Championship and withdrew prior to the final round.
