Tommy Fleetwood Sends Personal Message to Scottie Scheffler on Saturday

Tommy Fleetwood surged into contention at the 2025 Travelers Championship at TPC River Highlands with a remarkable 7‑under 63 in the third round on Saturday. That performance vaulted him to a three‑shot lead at 16‑under overall, eclipsing both Russell Henley and Keegan Bradley.

Meanwhile, defending champion and World No. 1 Scottie Scheffler struggled during the same round, beginning with a rare triple‑bogey on Saturday’s front nine. He carded a 72 and fell nine strokes back of Fleetwood, while celebrating his 29th birthday.

During a press conference on Saturday, Fleetwood dropped a heartfelt message for him.

"No doubt everybody mentions Scottie when he’s on the leaderboards. I think he’s definitely earned that." Fleetwood said. "He’s been there a lot, he’s won a lot, and over the last two, three years, he has definitely been that player that has found that way to win.”

Fleetwood observes Scheffler as an inspiration and wishes to learn a lot from him.

"I think he’s a great person to aspire to in terms of his game, the level that he’s played at. I always look at what the best players are doing and basically try and copy it," He continued.

"So, I think it’s great having the likes of Scottie and Rory, who are having such amazing careers as we are playing to look up to and learn from.”

Earlier on Friday, Scheffler had been locked in a three‑way tie with Fleetwood and Justin Thomas at 9‑under, but couldn’t sustain his early momentum.

The PGA Tour and numerous golf media outlets all celebrated Scheffler’s 29th birthday on June 21, 2025, highlighting his impressive achievements. Amid all those, Fleetwood's message of seeing him as an inspiration stands as the most fulfilling.
