Tommy Fleetwood has discussed Dustin Johnson ahead of the Dubai Desert Classic this week.

The LIV golfer is set to make his first appearance at the event and has not featured often in the DP World Tour during his career.

Johnson’s only start on tour in the past three seasons came at last year’s Alfred Dunhill Links Championship.

Fleetwood spoke about how he gets on with Johnson and what it means to have him taking part in the tournament.

Fleetwood has said he enjoys catching up with some of the LIV players when they cross paths at DP World Tour events.

Johnson, who does not typically appear at these events, is in the field for this week’s Dubai Desert Classic.

The Englishman said he is looking forward to catching up with Johnson at Emirates Golf Club, noting they have always had a good relationship.

“I think, for sure, there are players who play on the LIV Tour that add to tournaments for sure. Personally, it’s great to see some of the guys.

“Like Dustin, I’m close with Dustin or a few of the guys. It’s always nice to see them at the tournaments.

“Yeah, golf is a global game and I think it’s always nice to see some of those faces, whether they are familiar faces or faces that have been at the top of the game playing in tournaments.”

Tommy Fleetwood never had ‘bad blood’ for LIV golfers

Fleetwood’s response regarding LIV Golf perfectly illustrated why he is considered one of the sport’s most beloved figures.

Focusing on what he can control, the Englishman typically avoids taking sides on controversial topics.

He emphasized that he holds no ill will towards the golfers who departed the PGA Tour to join LIV Golf.

The world number three said: “Yeah, it was interesting. I look back at it, I was never one of those who had any bad blood in particular.

“I think another option to play golf came up, and some guys felt like they wanted to play over there. They wanted to do something different. I think that’s absolutely fine.”
