US golf fans pleased with Keegan Bradley’s Ryder Cup call: ‘Common sense has prevailed’

With just two months remaining before the start of the Ryder Cup, Keegan Bradley still has a lot of crucial calls to make.

Bethpage Black will host the Ryder Cup this year, and the New York crowd is sure to be loud in their support of Bradley and his squad.

But even with that advantage, Bradley still has a few important decisions to make before facing Europe.

One of those decisions is whether he should take on the dual role of player and captain when September rolls around.

A number of top American players have voiced support for Bradley playing in addition to captaining, but it’s not yet clear if he’ll try to handle both roles.

He has six picks at his disposal, but many of the players outside the automatic qualification spots haven’t been in great form recently, which makes those choices even trickier.

Keegan Bradley confirms Bryson DeChambeau as one of his Ryder Cup picks

Bryson DeChambeau showed plenty of resilience at The Open, bouncing back from an opening round of 78 with scores of 65, 68 and 64 at Royal Portrush. That kind of response seemed to leave an impression on Bradley.

DeChambeau won LIV Golf Korea this season and has shown good form in the majors, with three top-10 finishes and two top-fives.

He’s also added more control to his already massive driving game in 2025. This year, he is tied for 12th in fairways hit while still leading the way in driving distance.

After The Open wrapped up, Bradley confirmed that DeChambeau would be part of the team at Bethpage. The captain said: “Bryson is going to be a very important piece to us winning the Ryder Cup… He brings so much. He brings energy, passion but most importantly, he’s one of the best players on the planet.”

American golf fans have made it clear they’re happy about DeChambeau joining the squad.

Bradley’s pick of DeChambeau earns fan praise

DeChambeau currently holds a spot inside the top six of the U.S. Ryder Cup points standings, but there’s still some uncertainty about his status closer to September.

With no more points to add before then, he could still fall out of the automatic places. Even so, fans seem pleased that Bradley has already said he’ll be on the team.

One fan posted on X: “Fantastic, now I can watch it. Wasn’t planning on it without DeChambeau.”

Another wrote: “Earned it! Deserves it! Somebody else besides Keegan to fire up this team! Bryson brings the heat that will fire up the home-town crowd. Let’s go!”

A third kept it short and simple: “Bingo. Great call.” And another just added: “Common sense prevails.”

A fifth American fan made his feelings clear by saying: “Not a LIV fan, but he has certainly earned it.“

While a sixth said the LIV star is perfect for a Ryder Cup at Bethpage: “Bryson on stage in NY… it’s a no brainer and a perfect setting.“

A seventh simply said: “Smart move.“

The positive reactions continued with an eighth golf fan weighing in: “NOT a LIV fan but he’s worthy of a spot, as a matter of fact he is the only guy on LIV I would like back on tour.“
