The US Open has been suspended due to “dangerous weather” in the area. The announcement was made at 4:01 p.m. ET on Sunday, and the USGA said play will resume at 5:40 p.m. ET.
Ahead of the fourth round, the US Open shared the weather forecast, and it showed that there was a 40 percent chance of rain in the afternoon. Sam Burns is the current leader as he’s two under par through seven holes.

Burns is looking to win the first major of his career. At the US Open last year, the 28-year-old finished tied for ninth, the best finish for him at any major.
“I played really well yesterday other than the finishing holes,” he said to reporters after his round Friday, per CNN. “So, I think today was just kind of getting mentally ready to come out and try to put a good round together. I feel like I’ve been playing well coming off last week and into this week and my round yesterday. Really just trying to get yourself in position out here and give yourself as many looks as you can.”
Sam Bruns is good friends with Scottie Scheffler who is tied for 11th in the US Open. “He plays golf very freely, and he’s got really good natural instincts when it comes to his putting,” Scheffler said of Burns, “and a lot of it is just very reactionary. He’s got good fundamentals, good instinct, and he putts very reactionary. That’s really all there is to it, it’s as simple as that.”
One of the surprising stories of this year’s US Open is Bryson DeChambeau missing the cut. He won the US Open at Pinehurst last year and finished 10 over through two rounds in 2025.
Shane Lowry, the No. 12 player in the world, also missed the cut after finishing 17 over in the first two rounds. “I let it sort of do what I said I wouldn’t do, but that’s Oakmont,” Lowry said, per ESPN. “That’s the U.S. Open, and I just made obviously too many doubles, too many big mistakes, and then when I got a couple of chances, I didn’t convert them. I didn’t really do much right to be honest, other than I drove the ball as good as I’ve probably driven the ball in a long time.”
