Who Bryson DeChambeau named on his golfing Mount Rushmore when asked to pick four golfers

Bryson DeChambeau is right up there with the best golfers in the world, but even he admits there are a few players from the past who leave him genuinely impressed.

With two major titles to his name, DeChambeau has become a favourite among younger fans of the sport. But his move to LIV Golf in 2022 raised plenty of eyebrows and put his reputation on the line.

His current contract with the Saudi-backed league runs out at the end of 2026, and as of now, he hasn’t put pen to paper on a new deal. With Brooks Koepka already making his return to the PGA Tour, it wouldn’t be surprising if DeChambeau started thinking about a similar move.

DeChambeau shared some thoughts on Koepka’s departure from LIV, pointing out that it will be interesting to see how the PGA Tour handles his return. For someone who has such a strong connection to golf’s history, stepping away from the tour was always going to feel like a significant loss.

Bryson DeChambeau’s Mount Rushmore: Who made the cut?

DeChambeau could eventually be mentioned among the top players in golf history, but there’s still a long way to go before he reaches the heights of those at the very top of the game.

While most people point to Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus as the two greatest players ever, DeChambeau took a slightly different approach when Flushing It on X asked him to pick his golfing ‘Mount Rushmore.’

He said: “I would say Bobby Jones, Jack Nicklaus, Tiger Woods, and the last one’s just so brutal to decide on. I love Gary Player. I love Phil Mickelson. But, I think I have to give it to Arnold Palmer.

“I mean, it’s real tough to keep that guy off the Mount Rushmore of golf.”

Mickelson may not have made his final four, but DeChambeau clearly thinks highly of him if he was part of his original thinking.

It’s hard to argue with any of his picks though. Some might put Ben Hogan or Gary Player in there instead, but for DeChambeau, they just missed out.

Jack Nicklaus shared his version of Golf’s mount Rushmore

The real Mount Rushmore, carved into the Black Hills of South Dakota, features four former US Presidents: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Theodore Roosevelt and Abraham Lincoln.

Nicklaus was asked earlier this year which golfers he’d choose to replace them with.

He replied: “Probably be Bobby Jones, probably be Ben Hogan, probably Tiger Woods. I’d like to join them. Myself, that’s four.”

No surprises there. Tiger Woods and Jack Nicklaus appear on just about every list, and it’s hard to argue they don’t belong.

Bryson DeChambeau seems to agree and he also holds Palmer and Jones in high regard. Hard to fault that lineup from the LIV Golf standout.
