"I’m looking forward to playing the 3M Open for the first time,” Scheffler said in a release. "I’ve heard great things about the event and I’m excited to get to Minnesota and compete at TPC Twin Cities."
TPC Twin Cities is one of the easier courses on the PGA Tour calendar, which has made the 3M Open one of the weaker fields compared to many other events on the schedule. Scheffler will now be one of the most famous golfers to ever play in the tournament.
Scheffler won last year's PGA Championship and Open Championship. He has 20 PGA TOUR victories, including four major championships. He has been the world's No. 1 golfer since May 22, 2023.
"3M is proud to welcome Scottie Scheffler to the 2026 3M Open," 3M Chairman and CEO William Brown said in a release. "His participation advances our mission of bringing together the world’s best golfers to drive meaningful impact for our charitable partners. We’re looking forward to an exceptional event that showcases excellence, innovation, and community engagement."
This year's event will take place on July 20-26. Kurt Kitayama won the tournament last summer. Jhonattan Vegas, Lee Hodges, Tony Finau, Cameron Champ, Michael Thompson and Matthew Wolff are the other six winners.
The entire field for the 2026 3M Open will be announced at a later date, but Scheffler's involvement could result in a loaded crop of talent.
