Wyndham Clark Withdraws from PLAYERS Championship

Wyndham Clark, the golf sensation who nearly clinched last year’s PLAYERS Championship, made an early departure from the 2025 event, citing a neck injury. This setback follows his commendable performance as the 2023 U.S. Open champion, setting a high bar for his golf career.

Prior to withdrawing, Clark embarked on his second round with hopes of closing the gap created by leaders Min Woo Lee and Akshay Bhatia. However, after shooting a 72 on Thursday, he found himself struggling, particularly on the front nine. Notably, a double-bogey 7 on the 2nd hole, compounded by subsequent bogeys on the 3rd and 5th holes, marked the onset of his challenges. By the time he reached the 9th hole, Clark was 4 over par, significantly behind the leaders.

The projected cut for the event was set at even par, which Clark was veering further away from with each hole. His withdrawal serves as a reminder of the physical toll golf can take, even on young and seemingly invulnerable athletes.
