Two-time major championship winner Xander Schauffele announced the launch of his own app on Tuesday, The Xander Schauffele Official App. The app is free to download on Apple's App Store and Android's Google Play and provides fans with a unique way to follow along with one of the PGA Tour's biggest stars.

What exactly can fans expect from the app? It's a hub for all things Schauffele, offering behind-the-scenes content, updates on his playing schedule, gear and outfit drops, partner announcements/events, and more. Fans can also receive discounts and win exclusive giveaways through the app.

After winning two of professional golf's four major championships in 2024, Schauffele's popularity has reached a new high, and it seems he's making a more concerted effort to interact with his fan base.

REACTION

While the comment sections under Schauffele's social media posts were filled with sarcastic and harsh responses, I think he deserves credit for stepping out of his comfort zone. Something he's gotten more accustomed to doing in recent months.

Before winning the PGA Championship and Open Championship last year, Xander rarely showed off his personality, wasn't very active on social media, and gave fans few opportunities to get to know him better off the course. He seemed to like it that way, too. But now that he has two major victories under his belt, it's not as easy to fly under the radar, and Schauffele has handled all the added attention well.

He participated in TGL's inaugural season, playing for New York Golf Club, which lost to Atlanta Drive GC in the TGL Finals Series. He's jumped into the YouTube golf scene, joining BobDoesSports for an episode that dropped earlier this year. Now, he's added another opportunity for fans to interact with him through his app.

Do I think Schauffele suddenly has enough personality to make his app a smashing success? Do I think his fan base is truly dying for this creation? My answer to both questions is no.

However, certain players on the PGA Tour have a large enough following and fan base to warrant an app or something similar to this in the future. Could Schauffele's app launch be the start of a new way to follow along with big-name golfers? I wouldn't be surprised to see more players tinker with their own creations in the social media-driven world we live in.
