Livvy Dunne Suffers Devastating Injury Before LSU Senior Night

As LSU gymnast Olivia "Livvy" Dunne puts the finishing touches on her college career, it's been increasingly hard for her to make the most of it due to mounting injury. Unfortunately, her most recent injury is set to cost her a chance to perform on Senior Night.

Taking to her Instagram Story on Thursday, Dunne announced that she's been dealing with an "avulsion fracture" to her patella and cannot compete on Senior Night. she said she was gutted that she wouldn't get the chance to compete in front of the home crowd for her final time.

"Hi friends! Unfortunately, I've been dealing with an avulsion fracture of my patella and will not be able to compete on senior night," Dunne wrote. "It absolutely breaks my heart not to get the opportunity to compete in the PMAC one last time. Tiger fans, you've been so good to me! Thank you for the endless support and as always, Geaux Tigers! - Liv."

It's a disappointing finish to an otherwise stellar gymnastics career at LSU.

Throughout her four years at LSU, Dunne has been a part of one of the best gymnastics programs in the entire country. As a freshman her team finished second in the SEC Championships and the semifinals of the NCAA championships while she herself finished in the top 10 on the uneven bars in both competitions.

A fifth place finish in the SEC Championships in 2022 followed by a third-place finish in 2023 was disappointing, but things turned around in Dunne's fourth year.

The 2024 season proved to be the best season in LSU gymnastics history as the team won both the SEC and NCAA Championships.

Dunne's gymnastics career at LSU may be coming to an end but she has an exceptionally bright future ahead of her as an influencer. It's arguably brighter than most other gymnasts out there - even Olympians.

With over five million followers on Instagram and sometimes receiving upwards of $500,000 for a single sponsored post, she's in a position to do pretty much whatever she wants once she graduates.

This injury may be a setback, but in the grand scheme of things, it'll likely be a footnote.
