After a big 2024 that saw her dominate in the Paris Olympics, the recognition and awards just keep coming for Simone Biles.

On Monday, the American gymnast received another major honor, further highlighting her impact on women's sports.

During the Laureus World Sports Awards held in Madrid, Spain, Biles was recognized as the Sportswoman of the Year. She bagged the award over other nominees, such as Spanish soccer star Aitana Bonmati, Dutch runner Sifan Hassan, Kenyan runner Faith Kipyegon, American hurdler and sprinter Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone and Belarusian tennis star Aryna Sabalenka.

The Laureus World Sports Awards highlighted Biles' win on social media, writing, "The Laureus World Sportswoman of the Year is Simone Biles." The award-giving body also shared an edited photo of the 28-year-old, which showed her previous recognitions.

Biles has won the Sportswoman of the Year award three other times in her career, back in 2017, 2019 and 2020.

Simone Biles is definitely deserving of the honor. She's one of the most influential female athletes today, and she continues to show that she remains the most dominant gymnast in the world.

During the Paris Olympics, she took home three gold medals and one silver, increasing her career tally to seven gold, two silver and two bronze medals.

It remains to be seen what's next for Biles and her gymnastics career. During the ceremony on Monday, however, she did admit that she has yet to make a decision for the Los Angeles Olympics in 2028.

"I'm really enjoying my time off before I decide if I want to go back to the gym and compete," Biles shared. "A lot of people think it's just a one-year commitment but it truly is the four years leading up to the Olympics.

"It's in L.A., it's back in the States, which is so exciting. But if I'm going to compete again, I'm not so sure. But I will be at the Olympics, whether it's on the floor or in the stands."

For now, Biles is enjoying her break and making sure she continues to be an inspiration to many.
