While the 2028 Olympic Games are still a few years away, anticipation is already building as the event returns to the United States for the first time since 1996, with Los Angeles set to host.

One of the biggest storylines is whether seven-time Olympic gold medalist and global gymnastics icon Simone Biles will compete after her dominant showing in Paris.

At 28 years old, Biles would be in her early 30s by the time the LA Games arrive. Following Paris, s he made it clear that no decision has been made yet about her future.

However, during a recent appearance to Australia this week to meet and inspire young athletes, Biles was asked about the 2028 Olympics. While she stopped short of making any commitment, she offered a clear update on where her mindset is right now.

“I haven’t decided yet — I’m still taking time off mentally and physically before I decide anything,” Biles said. “Never say never, because you truly don’t know. But I’m taking time off to reset … training for an Olympic Games isn’t just the year before, it’s the four years prior.”

Biles added, “It’s a lot of dedication, sacrifice, and teamwork, because it’s not just me involved.”

Still, she made one promise: “If I’m not on the floor, I definitely will be in and around it. You’ll see me in LA, but to what capacity, I’m not sure. I’d love to be involved as much as possible.”

Simone Biles is not only one of the greatest U.S. Olympians of all time, but also a global icon in gymnastics. She's won 30 World Championship medals across her career.

Since making her Olympic debut in Rio in 2016 at age 19, Biles has competed in three Games and cemented her legacy with 11 Olympic medals—the most ever by a U.S. gymnast. She also became just the fourth American woman to make three Olympic teams, with Los Angeles potentially marking her fourth.
