Alex Palou continued his historic 2025 NTT IndyCar Series campaign with a pole on Saturday at Laguna Seca.
Palou will lead the field to the green flag in the 14th race of the 2025 season as he looks to grow his championship lead over Pato O'Ward.
"It felt amazing," Palou told Fox Sports. "The car has been amazing. Yesterday in Practice 1 and today, I felt like we had a lot of pace. It's great to be on pole here."
Ironically, O'Ward — who has won two of the last three races and is 99 points behind Palou in the championship — qualified second and will have his biggest rival in his sights from the jump on Sunday.
"We'll take that," O'Ward told Fox Sports. "Just happy we had a smooth qualifying (run). He (Palou) is the guy we have to beat."
Colton Herta, Josef Newgarden, Will Power and David Malukas rounded out the Firestone Fast Six.
The teams only got one practice session on Friday after the session scheduled for Saturday morning was canceled.
Sunday's Java House Grand Prix of Monterey will go green shortly after 3 p.m. ET, with coverage on Fox and the IndyCar Radio Network.
