
Meyer-Shank Racing driver Marcus Armstrong was the fastest driver in the first of two IndyCar practice sessions this weekend at Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin.
Armstrong and his MSR teammate, Indianapolis 500 winner Felix Rosenqvist, jumped to the top of the speed chart in the closing minutes of practice after series points leader Alex Palou was fastest for most of the 75-minute session.
Armstrong laid down a fastest lap of 104.2714 seconds/138.585 mph around the 4.014-mile road course.
Rosenqvist, Palou, Pato O'Ward and Nolan Siegel rounded out the top five, with Caio Collet, Scott Dixon, Mick Schumacher, Marcus Ericsson and Santino Ferrucci completing the top 10.
Other notable practice results include David Malukas in 12th, Christian Lundgaard in 13th, Josef Newgarden in 14th, Will Power in 17th and Graham Rahal in 22nd.
Sting Ray Robb was the slowest of the 25 drivers to take time, posting a fastest lap of 106.5182 seconds/135.661 mph.
Final practice will take place at 11 a.m. ET Saturday, with qualifying commencing at 2 p.m. ET Saturday. Both sessions will be televised on FS1 and can be heard on the IndyCar Radio Network.
Sunday's 55-lap/220-mile XPEL Grand Prix will go green shortly after 2 p.m. ET, with a warm-up scheduled for 11 a.m. ET Monday on FS1.
