Mick Schumacher, son of 7-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher, to race full-time in IndyCar in 2026

Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing has added its third full-time driver for the 2026 NTT IndyCar Series campaign.

Mick Schumacher, a veteran of 43 Formula 1 starts and the son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher, will drive the No. 47 for RLL in 2026.

The 26-year-old native of Gland, Switzerland, tested an IndyCar vehicle on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course with RLL in October and said at the time that he saw "good potential" in a possible venture into IndyCar racing.

Schumacher will join a 2026 RLL lineup that also features IndyCar winner Graham Rahal and 2025 IndyCar Rookie of the Year Louis Foster.

"Having both an F1 and an endurance background, and having competed in various racing series over the years, I have insights and knowledge that I am sure will contribute to a great partnership," Schumacher said in a press release. "RLL prepared me extremely well during testing already, and I am sure that we can build a lot together."

Schumacher will compete against Caio Collet of A.J. Foyt Racing for the 2026 IndyCar Rookie of the Year award. The 2026 IndyCar season will kick off on the streets of St. Petersburg, Fla., on March 1.
