20 household items that are acceptable to regift during the holidays

There are always those people who have way too many books in their home — the type of people who buy several whenever they pass a bookstore. If that sounds familiar, it might be time to lighten the personal library and start giving books one already owns to loved ones. Even better, write a personal note on a bookmark about why this book was a perfect choice for them.

If the cabinets are overflowing with dishware that’s still good as new, pass it along to someone who might need a new set: college kids, young couples, etc.

So long as all of the pieces and the rules are intact, board games are a great gift to hand over to families.

Those who have abandoned their creative spark throughout the year, leaving unopened and untouched craft supplies taking up space in a random closet corner, can rejoice in knowing that one of their friends’ kids is going to love a gift basket made up of all of that.

Clean out the closet, check for wear and tear, and make a pile of clothes that are quality pieces but just aren’t vibing with your current fashion state.

Candles are the gifts people get for those they know but don’t really know, so more often than not they sit on a shelf, never to be lit. Those would be ideal for coworkers, teachers, and anyone else one feels they know, but yeah, don’t really know like that.

Those with unused kitchen gadgets who really only ever have their food delivered need to clear out their cupboards and give those appliances to people who’ll use them.

Instruments can cost an arm and a leg, so those who have friends who have kids who are looking to get into band will appreciate an old tuba, flute, guitar, etc.

White elephant gifts aren’t always that bad; it’s just that they might not be for you. Find it a home elsewhere and let it stop taking up space in your garage.
