2020 Baseball Hall of Fame induction postponed to Sept. 8

Once again, the induction ceremony for the 2020 National Baseball Hall of Fame and Museum class has been pushed back.

Per ESPN and Michael Guzman of the MLB website, the Hall of Fame confirmed Wednesday that the ceremony held in Cooperstown, N.Y. has been postponed from July 25 to Sept. 8. It will take place at 1:30 p.m. ET and be held outdoors, with seating designated for fans vaccinated against COVID-19 as well as for unvaccinated individuals.

Tickets will be made available at 11 a.m. ET on July 12 on the Baseball Hall of Fame website. Attendance will be limited due to concerns related to the coronavirus.

New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter is expected to headline the class that includes Marvin Miller, Ted Simmons and Larry Walker. No players were elected for a potential 2021 class.

"On behalf of our Board of Directors and our staff, we are thrilled to be able to welcome our Hall of Famers -- the living legends -- and fans back to Cooperstown to celebrate the Induction of the Class of 2020," Hall of Fame chairman Jane Forbes Clark said in a prepared statement. "Returning the Induction Ceremony to an outdoor event will provide the baseball community with the opportunity to visit Cooperstown and celebrate the induction of four of the game’s greats."

MLB Network will broadcast the ceremony live.
