2024 Fantasy Baseball: Top 4 waiver wire pickups for Week 10

The Cleveland Guardians have been impressive in 2024, leading the NL Central with a 35-17 record. Their success has come with the help of some unexpected reinforcements. Those players have become key fantasy baseball waiver wire pickups entering Week 10.

But the Guardians aren’t the only team rostering fantasy baseball value. Through the ebbs and flows or a MLB season, players and teams find themselves in varying situations. Whether winning or losing, fantasy baseball players must be aware.

Once a player gains a new opportunity, whether via injury or ineffective play, the waiver wire must be checked. Adding a player with draft day value off waivers can be the difference between winning a championship or not.

Week 10 is no different. With the Guardians leading the way, these four players are must-add additions off of the fantasy baseball waiver wires. There’s no telling when a hot streak might end, meaning being the first in your league to catch a trend will be crucial.

David Fry, C/1B – Cleveland Guardians

There may not be a hitter hotter in baseball than Guardians catcher/first baseman David Fry. Over his last 13 games, Fry is hitting .435 with five home runs, 11 RBI and two stolen bases. He even has a position 11/9 BB/K ratio.

Due to his hot streak, Cleveland has moved Fry up to fourth or fifth in the lineup on most nights. He is now hitting .360 with six home runs, 19 RBI and three stolen bases on the season. On top of all of his stats, having eligibility at both catcher and first base only boosts Fry’s value.

Finding value in fantasy baseball is hard, especially off of the waiver wire. But with Fry, things are made easy. There is no telling how long his hot streak might go. But as long as he is swinging the bat the way he is, he shouldn’t be readily available off of waiver wires. Week 10 might be the last week to add Fry.

Ben Lively, SP, Guardians

For as good as Fry has been, he isn’t the only Guardian looking to be an intriguing waiver wire pick up. Ben Lively has quietly put up a strong season and looks to hold long-term fantasy baseball potential.

Over his seven starts in Cleveland, Lively holds a 3-2 record with a 2.84 ERA and a 38/12 K/BB ratio. In his most recent start against the New York Mets, Lively pitched 5.2 innings of one run baseball, striking out seven while walking just one.

Lively has yet to allow more than three runs in any of his starts in 2024. In six of his seven appearances, the right-hander has five or more strikeouts. At 32-years-old, and away from MLB from 2019-2023, not many expected a resurgence from Lively.

But much like Fry, fantasy baseball owners must act quickly. While Lively’s consistency points to continue success throughout the campaign, there isn’t much of a long-term track record. Adding him in Week 10 ensures you get past the speculation have Lively on your roster coming off arguably his best start of the season.
