2025 Injury Report: Castro, Mangum, & Rocker on IL

A day after Kumar Rocker gave up seven hits and five earned runs over 1.2 IP, the Rangers placed him on the injured list. Rocker was one of several notable players to hit the IL, including a fellow rookie and former SEC star.

Twins place Castro on injured list

Twins utilityman Willi Castro was placed on the injured list on April 24, over a week since he last played in a game. It is retroactive to April 21, per the MLB.com transactions page.

In other Twins-related news, Minnesota officially announced Pablo Lopez will return from the injured list and start for the team on April 25. Right-hander David Festa, already optioned to Triple-A this season, was demoted to St. Paul (AAA).

Rocker out with shoulder injury

Another day, another injury for the Rangers. A day after Texas placed Corey Seager on the injured list, Kumar Rocker hit the injured list with a right shoulder impingement.

It’s been an auspicious start for Rocker, who left several sliders up during his start on April 23 against the A’s and overall, has not been great. The rookie owns a 8.10 ERA over five starts.

Rays rookie lands on IL

Rays outfielder Jake Mangum landed on the injured list with a left groin strain.

Mangum is currently fourth in the AL in stolen bases (8).

Rehab assignments

Brewers pitcher Brandon Woodruff tossed five innings for Nashville (AAA) on April 24, the first time during his rehab assignment he’s thrown at least five in a start. He hit 94 MPH during an outing that saw him throw 61 total pitches.

Phillies outfielder Brandon Marsh went 0-2 with a walk during a rehab outing with Lehigh Valley (AAA). Marsh didn’t play the whole game but did start in center field.

Nationals pitcher Cade Cavalli threw five scoreless innings with Harrisburg (AA) on the 24th.

Other injury news

Royals pitcher Cole Ragans left his start on April 24 with groin soreness.

Washington activated CJ Abrams from the 10-day IL. Abrams was out with a right hip flexor strain.

The Mets activated Jeff McNeil from the injured list on April 24. New York (NL) demoted Hayden Senger and Brett Baty to Syracuse (AAA), leaving Luis Torrens as the lone catcher on the Mets’ roster.

However, Francisco Alvarez has been rumored to return from the IL on the 25th.

Justin Lawrence was placed on the injured list with right elbow inflammation. Additionally, Pittsburgh transferred Tim Mayza from the 15-day IL to the 60-day IL.
